Kat was fantastic with my perio maintenance! She was attentive and thorough and very personable. I have been getting regular periodontal maintenance with Carolina Dental Specialty Center and have had a total of 3 gum graft surgeries, and I 100% recommend Dr Arauz and his team.

First class, top of the line treatment! Staff and Dr. Arauz are VERY friendly and knowledgeable. The practice stays on the cutting edge of technology. Do not go anywhere else for dental implants. I never experienced one complication and I was followed closely for 5 years!

Let's face it... Nobody likes visiting the dentist. I've visited Kate (Dental Hygienist) and Doctor Arauz for about five years and always seem to look forward to each visit. The staff is warm and welcoming, and each person is brimming with professionalism and competence. Many of their other patients that I've met over the years share the same experience - seems like we all feel like part of a very caring family while we're visiting with them. I hope no one reading this ever has to visit the dentist - but if you visit the folks at the Dental Specialty Center you can be sure you will receive the very best care... and many warm smiles!

TLDR: lingual frenectomy -(tongue tie release)- benefits were 100% worth the procedure and healing process. I never knew what it felt like to wake up rested. See below for specifics. Above all Dr.Arauz and his staff were caring and kind. Questions were answered clearly and information was concise and and easy to understand. I have seen Dr. Arauz for two separate procedures over time. My most current care by Dr. Arauz started in June as a consultation and in August of 2026- I was seen in office for a lingual frenectomy- better known as a tongue tie release. I had a severe tie at birth, however it was not immediately presenting problems so I have lived with it until now (37yo). I recognized more issues varying from constant migraines, always exhausted even after a solid night sleep, dental issues like grinding and clenching of my teeth, my tongue placement being incorrect causing snoring and sleep disturbances, shoulder, hip, knee and back pain and injuries among other concerns. With two children of my own who were tongue tied and released at an early age to help with nursing I knew benefits were to be had for myself. I have done continual research on tongue ties and how my body would potentially respond post release. The tongue fascia is connected all the way down to your feet and has direct correlation to ailments in the body. Hearing and reading other people's testimonies of relief and wishing they had done their release sooner pushed me to make the call. In June I had my consultation with Dr. Arauz to discuss severity of tie, benefits of release, procedure process, pre and post care with him as well as pre and post therapy as it is needed to be started before release to ensure muscles can adapt to the new movements and post therapy to continue healing and new movements. OMT (Orofacial Myofunctional therapy) is a form of physical therapy that uses specific exercises to train the muscles of the tongue, lips, cheeks and face to improve breathing, chewing and swallowing. For the main purpose for me being to help the tongue learn the new movements and strengthen the tongue and mouth muscles prior to the release and then continue working with therapy for building strength and relearning muscle movement and coordination post release. My therapist works very closely with Dr. Arauz during each stage pre and post to ensure they had a solid plan for my healing and success. At 6 weeks post lingual frenectomy / tongue tie release I have only had 2 migraines and they were directly dehydration and lack of sleep related. I was averaging 3-4 migraines a week prior to release due to the teeth clenching and grinding. I am sleeping through the night and waking rested now that I am not teeth clenching and grinding. I have not had any low back pain since my release, that took about a week to resolve itself. My shoulders are not tensed up around my neck and feel more level, and my pelvic tilt is less prominent. My overall well being is much improved, now that other areas are resolving years of tension being settled. The first week post release was the hardest in terms of pain and swelling for recovery, however during the consultation I was thoroughly prepared and provided information to help me successfully heal. My first experience with Dr.Arauz was in 2015 for an implant for a crown- it went wonderful and the experience from start to finish was of highest quality. I was given a clear explanation of the procedure before hand, during the procedure Dr. Arauz and team made sure I was comfortable and pain was managed accordingly. There have been no issues with the implant.
